Essential Oils from Aromatime

Premium essential oils 100% pure and especially selected to deliver exceptional therapeutic results and exquisite scents.

What Makes An Essential Oil Therapeutic Quality

Essential  oils are available on the wider market for two purposes. Those made for the fragrance (perfume) and flavour industry and those made for therapeutic use by therapists and interested members of the public. The difference is that the oils produced for fragrance and flavouring are of a lower quality. We guarantee that all of the essential oils offered by Aromatime are of the finest therapeutic quality prepared for therapeutic use by Aromatherapists.

Proper Distillation

The production  method (mostly distillation) affects an essential oil's purity--and it is vital to preserve as many of the plant's active natural components as possible. Therapeutic quality essential oils are distilled in glass, porcelain or stainless steel cooking chambers at the lowest possible pressure and lowest possible temperature. Excessively high temperatures, high pressure, or contact with chemically reactive metals such as copper or aluminium can quickly destroy delicate plant constituents. And the method of distillation is one of the most important steps in the production of essential oils.

All essential oils offered by Aromatime are 100% Pure Therapeutic grade and of the highest quality, and all of the essential oils we offer are obtained by gentle steam distillation of the plant's volatile oils. The exceptions are citrus oils which are produced by cold pressing methodology.

At Aromatime we offer the finest essential oils from reputable distillers and suppliers. We only work with growers and distillers we trust and have a long working relationship with. Aromatime essential oils are produced from freshly harvested material within state of the art distilleries, thus delivering to you some of the finest oils available anywhere in the world.

We are committed to organic agriculture from growers who share our love of nature in all its forms including plants, animals, trees and the natural landscape.

All of the essential oils offered by Aromatime are supervised by Consultant Aromatherapist Julie Foster. Julie is a principal tutor with the IFA and FHT  as well as teaching professional Aromatherapy at Diploma level. She is responsible for the essential oil quality process including the location of plant stock and harvest, methods used to extract the oils, quality reports assuring the oils character, and the distillation and distrubtion processes.  No Aromatime products are tested on animals and we operate to a strict fair trade policy. Sustainable plant stock is the source of all the Aromatime Essential Oils.

Essential Oil Information

Aromatherapy is the modern name given to the use of pure aromatic Essential Oils from herbs, trees & flowers which have historically been used for medicinal purposes.  Since antiquity essential oils have been used for the treatment of stress related complaints, family first aid & every day aches, pains, illnesses & emotional problems.

The guidance notes below have been written by expert Aromatherapist Julie Foster at Aromatime to help you select from this range of premium quality therapeutic essential oils

Administering Essential Oils Safely

As with conventional medicine the objective is to introduce the substance into the blood stream.  Inhalation & skin absorption are two of the fastest ways & therefore a variety of methods (as follows) can be used.  Remember Essential Oils are pure plant substances which have been used for thousands of years so they can be trusted to help with family health problems in a safe & natural way.

  1. Add 4-10 drops to the bath after it has finished running. (For children or individuals with sensitive skin add to a tablespoonful of milk & then add that to the bath -as it improves dispersion)
  2. Add 2 drops to a tablespoon full of Sweet Almond Oil or good quality Olive Oil and massage into the affected area or back. (See massage tips)
  3. Put 2 drops onto the pillow or the front of night clothes or onto a handkerchief.
  4. Put 4 drops into a small dish of water on top of an Aromatherapy burner.
  5. Lavender and Tea Tree are the only two oils which can be applied directly undiluted to the skin, e.g. for headaches Lavender may be dabbed on the temples or for acne or warts Tea Tree may be applied directly.

Note:  For children under 10 use half quantities

Essential oils safety

If pregnant or suffering from serious health problems then please seek advice from a qualified Aromatherapist.  Essential Oils should never be taken internally and are best stored in a cool, dark place with the cap firmly in place.

Essential oils are not to be used undiluted. Keep out of reach of children. If using an essential oil on your skin always perform a small patch test to an insensitive part of the body (after you have properly diluted the oil in an appropriate carrier.

Carrier Oils

The experts at Aromatime have sourced the very best  carrier oils from around the world.  The collection  consists of the finest therapeutic  quality carrier oils to guarantee  that your massages and essential oil blends offer  a luxurious and beneficial aromatherapy treatment.

Q What proportions of base oil to essential oils?
A Our professional recommendation is to use 2-6 drops of essential oil(s) per 15ml (1 tablespoonful of base oil).  15ml is the quantity required for a neck and shoulder massage but you will need up to four tablespoonfuls for a full body massage depending on the underlying hydration level of the skin.  Always use a separate dish for blending; either mix in a separate bottle or a small dish – do not tip the oil from the bottle of base oil directly onto your hand to contamination will occur as you go back for more. Use the blended mixture left over from the massage within one week on the same person for the same reason.
